Toloka in Uzhhorod: 30 bags of garbage will be recycled

The “FRI Toloka” campaign reminded the city of a significant problem – irregular waste collection in public places

It is said that a person has lived his life for a reason – when he has left a mark. But, let’s be honest, piles of garbage are not the marks that are meant. Unfortunately, the neighborhoods, street corners, and even city parks of Uzhhorod, whose paths are walked by hundreds of people every day, are littered with glass, bags, PET bottles, and other plastic.

However, there are caring young people in the city who care about cleanliness. This is not the first time that the public organization “FRI Uzhhorod” has organized the “FRI Toloka” campaign to remind the city of its significant problem – littering and, in particular, irregular waste collection in public places.

A participant in the Toloka, a first-year master’s student at the Faculty of Information Technologies of UzhNU, Oleksandr Dius comments: “I learned about Toloka from the Telegram channel “FRI Uzhgorod”, and a friend told me about it. This is not the first time I have come to clean, this time I was in a hurry to the action after classes at the military department. Together with activists, we cleaned the coastal zone of Uzh in Bozdos Park.” The guy adds that the public’s indifference is a good sign. It is necessary to point out problems, because only in this way can they be solved, bring the process to a systematic state and not return to this issue.

Activists collected 33 garbage bags in total, sorted them, 30 of which will be recycled.

Done the deed – walk boldly. The most enjoyable part of the walk is the picnic afterwards. The participants of the event got to know each other, chatted, and rested.

The organizer of the action, Denys Zakharkevych, notes that it is impossible to constantly do work for utility workers. Therefore, the guy, together with a team of like-minded people from “FRI Uzhhorod”, plan to contact the relevant department of the city council and keep a close eye on the problem.

In addition, “FRI Uzhhorod” organizes various educational, cultural and environmental events, you can follow news and updates on Facebook, Instagram or Telegram channel.
